If you're one of many who've lagged horrifically since Closed Beta 5,
chances are the problem will not be solved anytime soon. The problem is
that certain ISPs have routing issues when attempting to reach NCSoft's
servers. This causes for massive packet loss on certain hops and
terrible lag almost 100% of the time. As one of these people, once CB6
appeared to be no better, I searched for a solution! It seemed simple
enough, if the issue is my connection's path, I needed a new path.
For an example of the type of lag this will fix, refer to this video.
So, upon some Googling, I found Gamepath. As soon as I got it working, the
lag went 100% away and I have not lagged a single second since. The
only issue is that every once in awhile I will randomly crash. The
reason for the crash is that WideCap will occassionaly cause an error
with the Aion Client, causing it to close. This can be fixed by using
Proxifier instead of WideCap, however Proxifier is an expensive paid
service. Gamepath is currently creating their own program, which they
expect to be ready by early October. Even using WideCap, having to log
in every few hours after a crash greatly outweighs lagging terribly
non-stop.
I'll go through the step-by-step process of getting Gamepath to work since they aren't very detailed with their instructions.
Their service is free, but you will have to reconnect every hour. You can pay $6 for 30-days of unlimited use, but I highly suggest testing it using their free service first and if it works, you can decide if the $6 is worth it. For me, it was.
