1. Beach

You start by being washed up on shore, the ship bearing you and your fellow slaves has been destroyed and you seem to be the only one who lived. Kalanthes (lvl 80 NPC) has a brief conversation with you, and then leaves you alone. Open your action book to put any beginning spell into your hotbar/keybinds if you don’t see it there already. Turn around and take a dip in the bay, dive under the water and check for a box containing a health potion. Climb out, dry off, and head up the path. You will come to Cassilda chained up and sounding a lot like Penelope Cruz. She wants you to go find the pirate who so cruelly put her in her predicament and get the key to her shackles. Run back down the path and to the left you will see him. The game will also popup a tip.

As you kill him, you will instantly gain lvl 2 and possibly gain a new combo. Go kill the remaining pirates and a few crocodiles if you wish, and hope for a sexy bandana. Go back to Cassilda and free her. She will never forget your help.

Move forward and kill the pirates to the left and right. Cassilda will be following you but does not help you (other than offer some encouraging cheers)Return to the middle and move on into the jungle. You will complete objective #2.

Kill a couple more bad guys and move around the corner to the left. Kill the rangers and move down the hill to the next semiboss. Kill him and look up the hill to see two more pirates fighting off a pict. Help them kill the pict and then keep moving forward, they will keep fighting pict with you until they die or you kill them.

Wipe out the remaining pict and then come to the Slavemaster at the Acheronian Gate. Tell him what a SOB he is and then kill him.

Equip his scimtar if you can and then turn left since the gate is locked. Work your way through all the pict, and be careful in the villiage area if you are squishy since they have a long aggro range.

You should notice a white emblem glowing at the top of your screen at somepoint. This is to notify you that you are level 5. Open your attributes panel and raise your primary skills as far as they will go(Bandaging/Concentration/Mana/Hiding depending on your class)Hold down the mouse button to quickly run up the ticker and only put the remainder in Climbing. You only need to worry about getting Climbing to 200 by 30-40 since it mainly pertains to areas in your main race city.

Approach the stone archway at the end carefully as there is a demon patrol beyond it. Pull the first 2-3 and kill them, then run in. I personally always go around to the right and pull the demons in the circle guarding the chest. Once they are dead, loot the chest and then finish off the boss. Open the stone chest behind him and then talk to Cassinda. She will tell you to run back to the gate the Slavemaster was standing in front of earlier.

Run back there and click the gate to open it. Run through it and work through a few gorillas. You can hotbar the banannas they drop for a quick health boost. Once the bridge is in sight, there will be a boss gorilla and two of his buddies. This can be tough for squishies, especially new ones, so try to pull the boss by himself or just one other by waiting for the 3rd to turn and walk back towards the right. Loot his gem when he is dead and then run up to the chest on the far right to loot it. Once you’ve done that you are ready to cross the bridge to the Tortage gate. Cassilda will stop you here for some last words.

Beginner Guide: 2. Tortage City

Once outside Tortage City walls, you will notice a Blacksmith to the left of the path. Ignore him and go straight on to talk to the guard outside the city wall and learn a bit about the Red Hand. He will send you back to talk to the Blacksmith about getting the shackles off your wrists. In order to do so, The Blacksmith wants you to go grab a few bricks in a nearby quarry. Turn around and run to the left path. Kill a few panthers and then prepare to take on the pirates.

Up the path on the left end is the quarry. If you feel daring, take the brick closest to the mysterious looking cave. This will cause a small rockslide, which summons a huge winged demon to fight. PIck up the remaining 2 bricks and run back to the Blacksmith. He will free you of your bonds and send you back to the Guard.

The guard wants you to take a letter to his lover Tina, who caretakes the Thirsy Dog Inn, just inside the walls. I recommend doing this right away, instead of getting tied up in the daytime quests.

Enter the Thirsty Dog and find Tina around to the left, standing by the bar. She will tell you to seek out Nadini, at which point you should tell her you will see her tonight. This will bring you into Night Tortage, and the beginning of your destiny quests, which will take you pretty much to level 20.

Choose the archetype below to view detailed guides on 5-20

Soldier (Guardian, Dark Templar, Conqueror)

Priest (Priest of Mitra, Tempest of Set, Bear Shaman)

Soldier Destiny: Levels 5-10

It is nighttime in Tortage. You go speak to Tina and she reminds you that you should talk to Nadini.

The Awakening I
Nadini can be found in her house in an alley in the southeast part of the city. Exit the Inn and head right down the ramp and continue straight on across the bridge. Keep going until you see some steps under an archway. Go up and to the left, and enter the house at the very end on the left. After you have spoken to her, head back to The Thirsty Dog Inn. Logically you will speak to Tina again and she will send you to Sigurd, who is the bartender. You and Sigurd will get to know each other well, as he will become your mentor.

Sigurd sends you to White Sands Isle to find a man named Arias. If you open your map (M) you should see an X to the north of the harbor where you need to go. As you exit the Inn, go left this time and keep heading on until you see the large ship on poles (Rum’n'Rumble Inn). Run under it and across the lefthand bridge, then through the buildings until you reach the shore. You should see a Canoe stranded on the sand. Click it to get to the Isle.

Once you arrive on the White Sands Isle, check your map to determine the general direction Arias is in. Fight your way through the Pict along the beach and run up the hill through the flowers where you see the panthers creeping. Swing around the camp to the left, killing a handful of panthers and Pict archers, and move along the wall until you find Arias by his fire. Speak to him and then head back to the Thirsty Dog.

Once back in the Inn, let Sigurd know what you have found out. He will tell you that Tina’s brother is lost, and that she needs help to find him. Speak to Tina to get some clues , then go find the harbor guard on the right side of the Rum’n'Rumble Inn.

The guard will tell you to ask the Harbor Master what he knows. Walk left past the guard to find him. Get ready for a pretty cool cutscene and fight the immediate onslaught that follows. Go back to the Rum’n'Rumble Inn to speak to Phoenic, located up on the deck.

Return to the Thirsty Dog Inn and tell Tina of the bad news. She urges you to meet Valeria (remember her from the first Conan movie? She was much cooler in the books) Go back to harbor, past the place where you just watched the cutscene, all the way down and around and meet up with her. She will initiate a conversation with you. Don’t take her literally when she says she will take the ones on the right if you take the ones on the left. Just move forward carefully and kill each group at a time. Eventually you will get to the mini-boss who drops the key. Open the door to the lighthouse and speak to the little boy, Si-Khu. Now go back the Thirsty Dog Inn and talk to Sigurd.

Letter to the King

Sigurd will ask you to speak to Si-Khu again, who’s found by the door in the Thirsty Dog Inn (just pretend he followed you back there). When you’ve recieved the scroll he gives you (this is located in the Quest tab of your inventory), go out through the West Gate and take the first left trail over the stream. Follow it until you see Ninus standing outside the temple, then go left and you will soon see Arias’ camp.

Arias sends you to talk to the Slavemaster Shenti Aku. Continue going in the direction you were heading and take your first right and then go right once more when it branches. Kill the slaves and just follow the trail until you stand in front of the entrance to the volcano.

Hint: take down the Mercenaries first.

Kill the first group at the bottom of the trail and then go across the first bridge to kill the next group by the tents. There is a caster in this group so get in close to put her down before she 3 shots you. Ignore the climbing points that may appear to you here. Turn back to kill the Mercenary and his buddy on the second bridge. You will pass some stairs to get to the second camp over on the rise. Wipe out the second camp, and be sure to take out the Dem near the last tent immediately. There is a chest, so be sure to loot it. With everything clear, backtrack a bit to the stairs you passed and head down them. You will encounter two more guys and then see a long rope bridge to the left.

The rope bridge fight is your first major challenge as you will have no choice but to fight several mobs at once. If you die, you will spawn back near the door to where you enter the zone, so just run back down and be careful of respawns. You have no death penalty yet, so just keep working on the combos. Once you are past the bridge you can go up the steps, kill a caster and a few more guards, then run up another long set of stairs. There is another camp up here, so be sure to get all of the mobs dead (they are in the tents so move close enough to aggro in order to get them all cleared prior to talking to Shenti Aku)

Once you are ready, speak to him. Here you can choose between two options, one will lead to a fight and the other will not. Both will solve the quest though, so there’s no need to worry about that. If you choose to fight, take care as he will get the first strike and this often leads to quick death for casters/healers.

Once you’ve finished the quest, head back to Arias and report. He will give you a letter for Redrik, a captain located back in Tortage harbor. Head down to the harbor, the same way you went to get to the White Sands Isle. Redrik is standing on the wharf. Give the letter to him and wish him luck.

To continue the destiny questline, you need to be level 10. If you haven’t hit this yet, return to the Inn to speak with Sigurd and go back to Daytime. Complete the quests given by the NPCs close to the Inn and you should be 10 quickly. Return to Night to continue.

Priest Destiny: 5-10

It is nighttime in Tortage. You go speak to Tina and she reminds you that you should talk to Nadini.

The Awakening I

Nadini can be found in her house in an alley in the southeast part of the city. Exit the Inn and head right down the ramp and continue straight on across the bridge. Keep going until you see some steps under an archway. Go up and to the left, and enter the house at the very end on the left. After you have spoken to her, head back to The Thirsty Dog Inn to speak with Belesa, who is downstairs. You and Belesa will get to know each other well, as she will become your mentor.

Belesa sends you to White Sands Isle to find a man named Arias and gives you a potion for him. If you open your map (M) you should see an X to the north of the harbor where you need to go. As you exit the Inn, go left this time and keep heading on until you see the large ship on poles (Rum’n’Rumble Inn).

Give him the potion and then head back to the Thirsty Dog.

Belesa tells you of a mysterious flower that grows on the mountain near the volcano. To find the Blood Root, head out of the West Gate and take the path to the immediate left over the stream. past the Temple of Mitra and then to the left again when the path branches. Follow the path all the way to the camp and the flower is near the edge of the cliff. Pick it and bring it to Ninus who is standing by the Temple you ran past previously. Give it to Si-Khu who is inside the Temple, then go back to the Thirsty Dog Inn and speak to Belesa.

Letter to the King

Follow it until you see Ninus, then go left and you will soon see Arias’s camp. After talking to him you take the trail on the right and then once more to the right when it branches. Kill the slaves and just follow the trail until you stand in front of the entrance to the volcano. Once inside, you simply follow the path down through the first camp. Don’t bother with the two climbing points you see, as they don’t lead anywhere. In the first camp, you will see a path leading up. You don’t need to go there yet as that is for a later quest.

Instead, continue to the right over the bridge and kill everything that moves. It might be a good idea to be a bit careful, as there are mobs inside the tents which you don’t see until it’s too late. Bringing a healt potion or two is always a good idea for this quest. Head down the stairs and walk along humming a song while you lay your enemies to their eternal rest. Eventually you will face Shenti-Aku. Speak to him. Here you can choose between two options, one will lead to a fight and the other will not. Both will solve the quest though, so there’s no need to worry about that. He does drop loot and give xp, but the option is there for you RP’rs. Once you’ve finished the quest, head back to Arias and report. Now, head down to the harbor, the same way you went to get to the White Sands Isle. Redrik is standing on the wharf. Give the letter to him and wish him luck.

To continue the destiny questline, you need to be level 10. Simply swap to daytime and level and quest as usual.

Priest Destiny: 10-15

The Awakening II

Belesa mentions meeting up with the Resistance and gives you a brief history on Valeria. She wants you to liberate the poor district. Head down to the poor quarter by taking the left path from the Inn to the harbor and then make another left before you pass the beached ship. Kill the hostile guards guiarding the steps and then go up the ramp, then kill the guards near the pile of bodies. Once they’re all dead, a child will wander out and begin to weep. Go to him and have a talk.

Note: This should be fixed, however if the boy wont talk to you, run back to where the first pair of guards are and then return to the kid and try again.

Go to the Temple of Mitra outside the West Gate and enter the wine cellar underneath the Temple, located around the back. Here you will meet Valeria. Once you have accepted the quest there will be waves of Red Hand soldiers attacking both you, Valeria, and the villagers.

Strategy: Use your aoe heal on the villiagers who are being attacked and only nuke when necessary as you need to conserve mana. Rest/bandage in between every wave.

When all the soldiers are dead, speak to Valeria again. She will tell you that some of the villiagers fled into the Underhalls in fear. Offer to find them so you can continue the quest. Now go into the Underhalls and search for the lost villagers. The first villager is found down the stairs. The second villager is in the room to the left, up the stairs. The third villager is found when you keep going into the Underhalls to the right from the second villager. The fourth villager is placed further into the room, but through a door on the right side. The fifth villager is further into the room where you found the fourth villager, on the other side of a bridge. When you have found all the villagers, go back to Belesa and talk to her. She will send you back to Nadini.

Letter to the King II
After talking to Nadini, go see Arias who wants you to find Casilda (the woman you saved on the beach) in order to procure some impure blood that promises to screw up a very important ritual. She’s in the Thirsty Dog Inn. Once you have her blood, go down the inn steps to visit the butterfly merchant and buy yourself a few health potions, then head to the volcano. Ignore the spitting plants on the way, and just work your way through the few human mobs. Enter the volcano.

Warning: This time the guards will be much harder.

Kill the first group, then cross the first bridge. Kill the group at the first camp on your left and then head up the sloping path. You will reach a dead end with a climbing point. Sheathe your weapons and then walk up to it and press U to climb to the top. Be very careful exiting the ladder on top and do not use a heavy finger on your forward key, as you might shoot off the opposite ledge and end up taking a lava bath.

This will complete the first part of the quest. Kill the mobs in the camp and then head back across the bridge to the right of where you exited the ladder.

There’s a mini-boss here who patrols so you can pull him without entering the camp. Once over the bridge, there will be a camp with mobs, kill them and cross the second bridge. Keep following the path until you come to the boss. He can be a bit though, so keep an eye on the health potions. Once he’s dead, walk up the stairs and you’ll find the vial of blood on top of a bunch of wooden crates. Use it and you will complete the quest. Go back and talk to Arias.

To continue the destiny questline, you need to be level 15. Swap to daytime and level if needed. Once you are 15, continue by going back to the Inn to speak with Sigurd.

Soldier Destiny: Levels 10-15

The Awakening II
Sigurd will ask you to go to the Underhalls and help some members of the resistance. Leave the Inn and go out through the West Gate. Follow the path to where Turach (the Blacksmith) is standing, then go to the left. There, you will find a door that leads to a wine cellar. Move straight on down the stairs and then go through the door on the left. Kill the enemies and continue past the well, head down the stairs you find on the right after killing some mobs, then you will find Tangerra to the right when you pass the ladder. He will send you back to the warehouse near the first fight (cutscene) you encountered with the Harbor Master.

Enter the warehouse and fight the Red Hand Guards, then follow Quesado to the keep. There will be aggressive Red Hand Guards on the way, so watch out. Once you arrive at the keep, Quesado will attack you. Kill him and help Valeria with the other guards. She will initiate a conversation and tell you to talk to Sigurd. He will send you to Nadini.

Letter to the King II

To continue the destiny questline, you need to be level 15. Swap to daytime and level if needed. Once you are 15, continue by going back to the Inn to speak with Sigurd.

Priest Destiny: 15-19

The Awakening III

Go to Bartholomo’s shop down between the Rum’n'Rumble and the poor district. Bartholomo is standing in his usual spot outside the shop. Talk to him and then head out of Tortage through the gate and go towards Mithrelle’s Mansion, but when you get to the place where the path branches, take the path to the far right across the water. Hit yourself up with your healing spells and buffs, then head into the poisonous fog. Bartholomo’s wife is easily found if you just keep to the right along the wall. When you have the bracelet Bortholomo wants, go backand speak to him.

Now head to the main entrance of the Tortage Keep and enter. Step into the main hall and go up the two sets of stairs on the right. Step into the corridor, then down the stairs on the left. Continue through the rooms and on the top of the wooden stairs, go right and you will find Isleen. Talk to her, then go back to the main floor and, facing the door to Tortage, go right up the stairs.

Kill the mini boss and loot the chest behind him. Go back to Isleen and give her the uniform, then take her back to the exit. It is time to return to the Inn to speak with Belesa.

To continue the destiny questline, you need to be level 19. If you need more XP, go back to Day and spend some time in the Acheronian Ruins. When you are 19, continue.

Soldier Destiny: Levels 15-19

The Awakening III

Sigurd has some bad news for you. Tina has been cursed and you need to take a medallion to Nadini. Grab a few more health potions and then head out. Go to Nadini and she’ll tell you that the only way to cure Tina is to fetch sacred water at White Sands Isle. However, when you leave Nadini’s house, you will be arrested. After a cutscene, you will find yourself locked up in a cell with a Red Hand Torturer. Kill the torturer and loot the interrogation room key to open the prison door. Exit the cell and head right.

Kill the miniboss and the scribe, then continue down the stairs on the right. Take a left through the door, go down the stairs, and you should be standing on a wooden spiral staircase. Go down and take the door on the left, then head down some more stairs and make a right. Now you should be on the main floor.

Warning: There are several mobs here, so look out or you’ll be swarmed!

Head to the right and fight your way to the door which will be directly ahead of you, at the end of the hall. Once you’ve escaped, head to the White Sands Isle to fetch the sacred water for Tina. Once you’re there, go to the left to the climbing spot and get up from the beach.

Go directly ahead and climb the second vine. Head to the left and follow the path along the shore. Towards the end there will be a group of Swamp Snivels and a boss will spawn. When you’re done, enter the cave and walk to the water where the moon shines through and press U to use it. With your task complete, head back to the Thirsty Dog Inn. Tina’s room is up the stairs to the left and the last door on the left. Enter the room and stand next to Tina’s bed. Press U while targetting Tina to heal her. Go back downstairs and talk to Sigurd.

To continue the destiny questline, you need to be level 19. If you need more XP, go back to Day and spend some time in the Acheronian Ruins. When you are 19, continue.

Priest Destiny: 19-20

The End Battle

Another night in the Inn. Buy more potions and then go talk to Valeria. She tells you that before you can go to kill Strom, you have to talk to Nadini. On the way you must also liberate the Noble District and the Southern City. Head out of the Inn and towards Nadini. There’ll be guards and a mini-boss waiting for you after the bridge. It’s possible to single-pull one or two of the guards without aggroing the Red Hand Sergeant, which will ease the fight a bit. Pull and kill the Sergeant, and you will liberate the Southern City. Keep going towards Nadini’s house.

Outside her house, you will find Tarisha as a miniboss, lying on the ground. Kill her to liberate the Noble District. Step into Nadini’s house, kill the guard inside and speak to her. She will give you the Phoenix Medallion which is an important part of your destiny quest. Go outside and walk back the way you came, as the way to the harbor is blocked. Instead, you need to go down the other path towards the harbor. Delia is waiting across the second bridge, with guards spread around her.
You can attempt to single-pull some of the guards, to ease the fight. When Delia is dead, you’ve liberated the Northern City. Moving towards the harbor, you will see a barricade. Draw your weapon and attack it. Once destroyed you’ll find yourself in the middle of a big battle between the resistance and the Red Hand guards. Don’t engage in the battle as the guards will keep spawning and eventually swarm you. Instead, avoid the battle entirely and continue past.

The Red Hand High Priest will be waiting at the wharf. Kill him and you’ve liberated the harbor. Head towards the lighthouse and kill the guards in your way. You’ll find a second barricade -simply destroy it the same way you did with the first one. When it’s destroyed, you will be attacked by some guards so there’s no point sheathing your weapon again.

Next miniboss is Sakumbe. You’re not freeing anything here, but kill him anyway. He deserves it, believe me! When you come to the lighthouse, go behind it and you will see the boat.

Warning: Once you step on the boat you start the Strom fight and cannot go back, so you better be ready!

You will be attacked by several waves of Stroms bodyguards. Keep health and stamina potions ready and rest up between the waves. Once you’ve killed the last bodyguard, Strom himself will attack you immediately, so make sure you’ve enough health and stamina to survive the fight. When Strom finally is dead, step off the boat and talk to Kalanthes. Your grueling stay on Tortage is finally over and you will be shipped home to your birthplace.

When you arrive, take a deep breath and then go over to talk to the Guard.
