Tortage Leveling Tips
6-13/14:
Do quests around town and the ruins. But since we will be pvp server you can’t do the sewers or white sands until you are 17+ so gather every quest you can find and try to do them in circuits based on their locations.
Example, you can run up the mountain to kill flesh eaters, then on your way down collect the salty meat (there is a way to climb down the cliff there to the Harbor launchpad) collect the fish at lighthouse then head into the cave for the poisons and back to town to turn in, then head our to ruins to do first wave of quests there.
Save your destiny quests till later. See the Destiny Guides for specific walkthroughs.
13/14-18/19:
Now it’s time to do your Destiny Quests. The reason to hold off is that the NPCs scale to your level, thus you get a lot more xp this way, and npcs of 17+ in the open world in Tortage are not common.
19 - 20:
The Final Battle, which is the last part of the destiny quest, should not be started until you are 19 1/4 to 19 1/2 so as to be 20th when you zone out of Tortage. Once you start this leg of destiny you can not get out of it until you are in your new starting city. if you start right when you hit 19th you will fall short of 20. However it should be noted that there is a raging battle on the way to kill Strom that has infinite mobs to kill but it is dangerous. So you can very quickly grind some exp here if you are tough enough.
See the 19-20 Destiny Guide for specific info
Once you complete the end battle you will be wisked away from Tortage and brought to your racial starting city.
Stygians = Khemi (Which should be everyones level 20 starting destination, as its the easiest lvl 20 zone to level, and you can access it really quick from the other two.)
Cimerians = Conarch Village
Run around the village, find the Stage Coach Driver, select the option to goto Khemi.
Aquilonians = Wild Lands of Zelata
Goto the docks, talk to the Captian. If you don’t have a option to go directly to Khemi, you need to goto “Old Tarantia” from there you will see a bunch of other boats on the docks, one will take you to Khemi. Go there.
Note: The reason we chose Khemi is after testing each of the 3 major starting paths Khemi is the easiest to navigate, as it’s mostly flat as opposed to places like Connals Valley which is mountainous with lots of switch backs and lots of travel time sinks. All the zones are cool, quest rich and fun, but Khemi is the easiest to navigate off the bat when trying to sync groups.
Tip #1: You can find “Boozed Bullys” at the dry docked ship in the harbor. They are L17 and respawn super quick if you need to top up levels without traveling too far.
Tip #2: On White Sands in the ruins, if you have a strong AoE group, or multiple groups, it’s possible to grind very fast on “Black Ones” L16-17. The ruins are chalked full of them and they respawn fast. However you will have to fight players for them.
Tip #3: In the Acheronian Ruins at the Pyramid, there is a nice spread of NPCs to kill. In closed beta this was a safe zone. NPC’s there range from L14-17 and scale in level the higher up you go. Expect this to be camped to high hell on launch.
Tip #4: You can swim up waterfalls. This won’t be too useful in Tortage but zones like Connals Valley this saves an immense amount of time.
Tip #5: Instance Selection is now done by clicking the triangle on the upper left of your radar. When you use instance selection and select nothing, your maintain the same instance but are teleported to the closest Rez Point. This is a useful trick to use to cut down on travel time.
Tip #6: Use your “Path of Asura” ability wisely to cut down on Travel Times. It will teleport you to where ever you are bound. Default is the TDI. After you leave Tortage always pay attention for “Wayfarers of Azura”. Talking to them will bind your teleport point to that location. Old Tarantia is a good general location to bind to, as it’s a very central zone in the world.
Tip #7: ALWAYS have a shittton of healing potions, stamina potions and if your a caster Mana potions. Even if you don’t have stamina problems, you can use them to travel faster by maintaining sprinting. Also have the equivilant in food and drink. This goes for healers too, don’t think because you can heal you don’t need health potions.
