19 Twinkage Roadmap Using A Pally Buddy

Submitted: 15 years ago (02.10.2009)

This guide is intended on being a roadmap that should cover when exactly should which steps of twinking your level 19 toon be taken, with minimal risks of busting over level 19 while getting the hardest items.

This guide makes use of RaF trial accounts (to accelerate leveling and transport via summons) and a Paladin friend to run instances / quests. Why Paladin? First, it's one of the best classes to run low-level instances efficiently. Second, the pally ressurects your toon at minimal costs during quests in which your twink would have to die to avoid taking excessive experience. Of course, if you feel better using another class doing the runs, feel free to do so, but I cannot guarantee it would be as smooth with the instructions below.

So heeeeeere we go!

Pre-step #1: Determine the role of your twink. Will it be a DPS machine? Will it be an outstanding healer? Will it be a multipurpose Paladin? This will have an impact on the gear you will run for. There are several guides out there for gear requirements. I'd personally recommend looking on wowwiki.com.

Pre-step #2: Ensure your Pally buddy has ALL Libram/Arcanums Attunements done, as he'll be required to apply Arcanums on the Lucky Fishing Hat(s).

Pre-step #3: Ensure you have the proper financial resources to purchase enchants off the AH.

Pre-step #4: Create a trial RaF toon. Have the toon to be either an undead, or a Tauren druid (which is good for heals and DPS). The quests in Tirisfal Glades are easy, while the hunting quests of Mulgore provide opportunities to easily grind to level 13 when you reach TB for the first time. Other RaF toons may be required as "Port Decoys", like in the Gurubashi Arena.

Pre-Step #5: Get your pally buddy to get 4 Netherweave Bags for your twink. While obvious, it could be overlooked.

1: Go to a capital city and get your twink a port to Dalaran. Set your home there.

1: Get your required flight paths. Do that with the RaF trial toon dual-boxing when possible. The required flight points would be:

- Kalimdor: Orgrimmar-Crossroads-Ratchet-Camp Taurajo-Thunder Bluff
- Eastern Kingdoms: Silvermoon-Tranquillen-Light's Hope Chapel-Undercity-Sepulcher-Tarren Mill-Kargath-Grom'Gol-Booty Bay (For Out of reach FPs like Kargath or Light's Hope Chapel, use your main to summon a RaF toon over there, and summon your twink with the RaF toon thereafter).

1-2: Go discover zones near Yojamba Isle, Grom'Gol and Booty Bay, especially the fishing zones. This will prevent unwanted experience to stack on. WARNING: YOU WILL DIE A LOT! You might as well bring the Pally buddy to help you on this so he can rez you at will.

1-2: FOR DPS/PROT WARRIORS AND MULTIPURPOSE PALADINS, go discover the zones in Hillsbrad Foothills that pertain to the "Battle for Hillsbrad" quest chain, to ensure no extra discovery EXP stacks when doing the quest at level 19.

1-2: FOR HEALER/MULTIPURPOSE PALADINS AND DPS CASTERS, go discover the zones in Ashenvale that lead to Blackfathom Deeps. Optionally, get the flight paths from Splintertree Post and Zoram'gar Outpost.

2: Have the RaF toon Hearth to Deathknell/Mulgore. Have RaF toon summon you back there.

2-10: Level. Use the RaF toon to dual-box your way quickly to level 10. Using grantable levels on the spot is optional, if manipulated with quest turn-ins well (ie: both you and your RaF toon being closed to ding, turning in quest with Raf Toon, granting a level to twink, turning same quest with twink = 1 full extra level with some extra exp to boot).

10: DITCH THE RAF LEVELING TOON FOR THE LULZ!

10: Go level fishing up to 225.

ANYWHERE FROM THIS POINT: Any sunday, between 2 and 4, go take part in the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza. Make sure fishing zones (and perhaps ALL of STV if you're paranoid) are discovered so no extra discovery EXP bumps you out of level 18-19. Two items are required from this contest: Lucky Fishing Hat (+15stam cloth hat), and Net Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots (+12 cloth boots that can be enchanted with BC enchants such as Boar's Speed). Furthermore, for those who want to go hardcore and have multi-purpose suits for their twinks (as with Pallies), you may want to get extra hats, all enchanted with different arcanums, and an extra pair of boots enchanted with Cat's Swiftness.

ANYWHERE FROM THIS POINT: Visit periodically the Gurubashi Arena in Stranglethorn Vale to complete the Grand Arena Master quest. The reward for this is the Arena Grand Master trinket. General advice is to do this off-hours (3am and 6am, and midnight if you're feeling lucky), especially on weekdays. Get another RaF toon there, and use the summonning feature 5 minutes prior to the chest spawning.

Starting from 10: Grind the following instances for required twink gear: Deadmines first (it's near STV), then Ragefire Chasm, then Wailing Caverns, and finally, Shadowfang Keep. Gather the gear pertaining to your class and role. Or, if you wish to play a multi-purpose twink (this is great when playing a twink pally, may also be useful for Twink druids and shammies), you may wish to plan up to three suits, and run those instances as many times as required in order to get copies of the piece(s) of gear you'd require for your suits.

10-15: Any BoE gear you can obtain should be obtained between these levels. Easy-to-obtain items such as Mighty Chain Pants (for Warriors and Prot/Ret Pallies) should be sought after at this time. Also, AH hunt for other BoEs and Scroll of Enchants. Once you get your BoE pants, have them enchanted ASAP.

15: For healing pallys and casters, go complete [In Nightmares] to get the Talbar Mantle, a cloth shoulder piece of gear that has +6 int and +3 stam. Prior to this, you must have got the Glowing Shard from Mutanus the Devourer in Wailing Caverns. The quest then takes you to from Falla Sagewind, in a small hut on top of the WC mountains on Crossroads' side, and ends with Hamuul Runetotem in Thunder Bluff, on Elder rise. Once you have the shard, it's a simple "Bring item to destination" quest. DO NOT DO THIS ON LEVEL 19, AS IT GRANTS 2000 EXP. And even if those are not the shoulders you aim for, you can always wear them until you get the shoulders you want, and the intellect boost is said to help skillups faster. Which brings me to...

15-18: For DPS warriors, rogues and hunters, level Skinning until 225. This gives out +9 crit (which translates to +3% crit rate) BOTH melee and ranged.

15-18: For Flag Carriers, level mining until 225. This gives out a +7 stam bonus.

15-18: For any twink who would like to have an extra healing alternative, level herbalism up until 225. This gives the Lifeblood spell, which heals 720HP over 5 seconds at level 225 herbalism. Taurens will need to skillup until 240, since they have a 15-point herbalism bonus to boot.

16-18: For Flag Carriers/Stam freaks, grind rep with Tranquillien (Ghostlands) until Exalted to get Tranquillien Champion's Cloak.

18: Get quest [Arugal Must Die], and go kill Arugal in Shadowfang Keep with pally buddy. Turn in the quest for the Seal of Sylvannas. This ring is A MUST for ANYONE.

18: FOR HEALER/MULTIPURPOSE PALADINS AND DPS CASTERS, go complete [Blackfathom Vilainy] to get the Arctic Buckler shield, or the Gravestone Scepter. Have your pally buddy clear Blackfathom Deeps up to Argent Guard Thaelrid to get the quest. Then exit the instance, have the pally buddy clear up to Lord Kelris, re-enter BFD, go find your pally, and get the kill on Lord Kelris, get the twink to take his head and turn it in to Bashana Runetotem in Thunder Bluff.

18-19: Ensure you ding 19 with AS LEAST EXTRA EXP AS POSSIBLE.

19: DROP ALL YOUR QUESTS FOR THE LULZ!

19: FOR DPS/PROT WARRIORS AND MULTIPURPOSE PALADINS, Go to Tarren Mill and have your pally buddy assist you with the "Battle for Hillsbrad" quest chain. Make sure the twink is dead (but doesn't release spirit) while the pally registers the kills for the twink without getting EXP. Ressurect with Pally as required. Once the whole quest chain is completed, you will choose between the Runic Darkblade (the best 2-hander you can get) or the Deadskull Shield (the best Flag Carrier shield available).

19: Do some BGs to get the rest of your stuff, as the remaining items to gather should only be PvP rewards.

19: Get the missing enchants for your stuff. Use your pally buddy to get required arcanum(s) for your hat(s).

Does this still work?
